How to Keep the Light

A few simple habits for wearing and caring

Pearls are softer than gemstones and metals. A little attention will keep their luster for years.

1. Wear them often
Your skin’s natural oils help maintain the surface. Pearls actually like being worn.

2. Put them on last
Apply perfume, lotion, and hairspray first; let everything dry; then put on your pearls.

3. Keep them separate
Store them flat, in their own pouch or box, away from harder metal jewelry that can scratch them.

4. Wipe after wearing
Use a soft, dry cloth to remove sweat or residue. Don’t soak pearls or use ultrasonic cleaners.

5. Avoid heat and extreme dryness
Long exposure to strong sun, radiators, or very dry air can dull the nacre over time.
